A 1999 graduate of James E. Taylor High School, Clint Capshaw was a former student of director emeritus George Engelmann. Mr. Capshaw received both his Bachelors degree, magna cum laude, and Masters degree from the University of North Texas.
In spring of 2003 Mr. Capshaw was the solo recipient of the Honors Award given to the most outstanding undergraduate music education major for the 2002-2003 school year. Proficient on the viola, baroque viola and viola da gamba, his teachers have included Dr. Susan Dubois (modern viola), Cynthia Roberts (baroque viola), Patricia Adams Nordstrom (viola da gamba) and Karrell Johnson (string education).
Mr. Capshaw taught middle school and elementary orchestra in Denton for 5 years and high school orchestra in Round Rock for 2 years. His orchestras have consistently earned “sweepstakes” awards at UIL contest and Best in Class awards at Festivals throughout the state.
When he is not teaching, Mr. Capshaw performs professionally with the Abilene Philharmonic and the Dallas Bach Society. Clint resides in Katy with his wonderful wife Jessica and his three amazing children, twin boys Daniel and Nicholas (age 2) and daughter Emma (age 1). Clint is very proud to call Katy and James E. Taylor High School his home once again!!!!

Symphony (Full) Orchestra: This orchestra rehearses after school on Tuesday afternoons from mid-November until Mid-May. The Chamber and Philharmonic string classes constitute the string sections of the orchestra and the very top wind, brass, and percussion from the Taylor High School Band are invited to perform as members of this award winning varsity ensemble. This orchestra will perform at the UIL where they have earned consistent Sweepstakes Awards at the UIL Orchestra Contest each Spring, Best in Class Awards at Spring trip contest on four different occasions and has placed as high as second in the state with the Texas Music Educators Association 5A Full Orchestra Contest.
